A Good Thing CIC is an online platform that connects charities right across the UK with businesses that have things to give away. Meaning less to landfill, and more to a good cause. Absolutely anything can be given away via our digital platform, and organisations of all sizes and types are eligible to join. Charities are 'matched' with businesses via the app, and then make arrangements between each other for the charity to collect the items.

Our growth in the past year, driven by the success of our online matchmaking platform, has been dizzying: we went from 596 charities, 140 businesses and 180 matches made at the beginning of 2023 to 1,552 charities, 371 businesses and 603 matches by the end of 2023.

Users are loving the ease of use of the platform, and the speed at which they can be matched. We have had consistently excellent feedback on the user interface, and on how simple and intuitive it is. Charities and businesses are now able to use our digital platform to do a job that used to be done manually and painstakingly, usually by phone or by email. Businesses have told us how many hours it used to take them to call around dozens of local charities in an effort to rehome things, only to be met with voicemails and frustration.

Making use of technology is at the heart of what A Good Thing does: in many cases, our app has been able to connect people who almost certainly never would have found each other otherwise.
