The economic reality facing charities is bleak. Shrinking budgets, political uncertainty and turbulent economies are all putting extra financial pressure on the charity sector. For the majority of charities, public funding has shrunk, competition for grants is high, and capacity is stretched even further than ever, yet the demands aren’t slowing down. Big Give's Green Match Fund is a campaign creating impactful digital match funding solutions to address the pressing challenges facing environmental charities.

Through the innovative use of technology, the Green Match Fund harnesses the power of digital fundraising and real-time match funding to connect larger donors, the giving public and charities. So £50 from the public becomes £100, doubling the difference of contributions to help charities reach twice as many people. Our 2023 campaign raised over £4.3m for 178 charities, exemplifying the transformative potential of digital fundraising solutions in addressing environmental challenges through supporting charities.

Our key digital achievements lie in the success of our match funded campaigns, like the Green Match Fund, which is designed specifically for environmental charities. Throughout our match funding initiatives, we seamlessly integrate technology to match public donations with contributions from larger donors. In the last year alone, this digital-driven fundraising approach resulted in a substantial increase in funds raised for numerous charities, totalling over £46.3m raised. The measurable impact is also evident in the post-campaign surveys taken from charity partners, where over 92% of charity partners were satisfied with the return on investment and would recommend Big Give to other charities.

Our user-friendly digital interface allows charities to track the progress and impact of their campaigns easily. Over the past year, metrics have shown that 86% of charities increased confidence (a lot or a little) in online fundraising thanks to the Green Match Fund.

Furthermore, our strategic partnerships with funders have been strengthened through digital channels, leading to expanded support for charities.
