WAC is a mobile app that allows hourly-paid workers and those in the gig economy to track their hours and earnings in one place, and get live payslip estimates, including tax, to ensure they are being paid correctly by their employer. We are building a global community and empowering them to take control of their working lives, receive fair pay and have access to opportunities to live the life they deserve. Since we launched in 2020, we’ve amassed over 300,000 installs, with 25,000 monthly active users recording more than 700,000 shifts each month who are claiming back thousands of pounds of unpaid wages from their employer.
We’re building a community to offer full support which not only provides financial security but also gives workers the knowledge they need to understand their rights and ensure they’re not being taken advantage of at work. The two largest demographics in hourly-paid work are those ages 16-24 and those aged over 65. As part of our 2024 plan, we are working with the University of Leeds for a pilot project to support students to get the most out of their employment as their age group is the most at risk of being underpaid by their employer. Additionally, we’re working with Ageing Better UK to ensure our marketing and app accessibility is suitable for anyone over the age of 65 in hourly-paid work so technology isn’t a barrier to getting paid correctly.
Keeping hourly-paid workers at the heart of our decision-making, we’re supporting people in over 136 countries around the globe. These are people who are often taken for granted by both customers and their management, who are most at risk of financial insecurity, and who are least able to take a stand against work-related abuse.
WAC is helping to change that by ending payday guessing and placing control back into the hands of employees. Having a simple, reliable and accurate means of recording hours worked has helped to give workers peace of mind.
