Brief description:

In December 2021 Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board successfully bid for NHS funding for an accelerator programme, under the ‘Putting People at the Heart of Care’ white paper to look at how the impact of falls and subsequent admissions/need for social care could be reduced by using sensor-based falls detection technology.

Essex, focused on testing cutting edge, 4D imaging radar technology which detects, tracks and monitors activity and movement in real time across four different settings including People in the community, Sheltered Housing, Extra Care Housing and Care Homes.

It was anticipated there would be a reduction in false alarm calls in comparison to traditional wearable falls detectors. It would reduce ambulance call outs and act as an alternative device for those with cognition or memory issue or those not able to wear or press a traditional style pendant device.

Why entering?

ECC are keen to use cutting-edge technology. Traditional telecare alarms are no longer suitable and digital upgrades are costly.
Essex is using the world's most advanced 4D imaging radar-on-chip, which allows Vayyar Care to deliver a touchless remote monitoring solution for residents of elderly care communities. A wall or ceiling mounted sensor monitors a single room and outputs data such as fall detection and room occupancy to a central dashboard without the intrusive use of cameras.
Our project has seen the biggest Care Home roll out in the UK deploying 138 devices covering 69 rooms and biggest pilot to date with over 316 devices deployed across Essex.
This type of technology has allowed us to enhance the way we deliver care and think about falls detection. Providers use the data platform to analyse residents’ daily activity movements and anticipate people’s needs by understanding behavioural changes. The data enables us to be one step ahead and allows our providers to deliver the best tailored care possible.
The built-in Artificial intelligence in the platform provides peace of mind to the individual user and their families.
