Brief description:

We believe that better energy literacy and climate literacy can lead to greater action in society (individual behaviour change and collective climate action). The Sustainable Futures Energy Forum, piloted and hosted by Sustainability First is an online discussion forum bringing together young people aged 18 – 25 and policymakers from the energy sector's regulator, Ofgem. Designed to share young people's perspectives and experiences, we could highlight the realities of living within our climate crisis and a cost of living crisis, and bring those lived experiences to bare on specific policy areas being developed by Ofgem for current and future energy consumers in Britain.

Why entering?

Digital recruitment through a wide national network of NGOs and community groups, using email, instagram, linkedin, twitter, and web promotion.
Use of Teams to host virtual 1.5-2 hour workshops
Live anonymized polling through Slido.
Collaboration and iteration of all project workshop pre-read materials and slides between Ofgem and Sustainability First teams via SharePoint.
Our digital approach helped us to span GB's geography in recruitment and promotion, and in convening discussion. It also helped to keep attendance high, and delivery costs down. We spent far less carbon this way too!
