The Government Climate Campus is an innovative learning programme by Apolitical to build climate capable governments in this critical decade. The Climate Campus is a collaboration between Apolitical, governments, world class academic institutions and philanthropy. Designed exclusively for and with public servants, the Climate Campus features online courses on climate and nature topics, communities of practice, and expert-led masterclasses and convenings. In under a year, Apolitical has already provided training to more than 30,000 public servants, giving them the knowledge and skills needed to deliver on climate targets.

Governments need to take climate action with at a speed and scale without precedent. We need to move faster and reach more people than ever before - and only technology can help us make high quality, relevant and expert-lead learning available to governments rapidly and effectively. Government preparedness to embrace online learning at scale varies, but the Covid-19 pandemic increased all governments’ adoption of digital technology, including for learning and development. All the countries in the Government Climate Campus pilot, from global north to global south, agreed that high quality and contextualised online learning holds the key to delivering online learning on climate and nature skills at the speed and scale required. The challenges governments face are complex and that small-scale interventions won’t deliver.
